This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 16, 2008:
I think I am drawn to sincerity in others. Someone that tries to hard to be what everyone else wants them to be is a turn off. I choose my friends carefully because pretentious attitudes really bug me.
I have the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with some rather rude and pretentious women at my kids schools. They show up every day and gossip about everyone and everything. Nobody is left untalked about, if you know what I mean. They are equal opportunity gossipers. I hate that. When I meet someone that is what they say they are, it's so refreshing. As one friend of mine put it, "Like me or hate me, I am who I am and I'm not going to be something I'm not. I will be genuine and honest and that's just me." I love that kind of attitude. We get along great because we are the same that way. I've been called a recluse by these gossiping women, but that's only because I stay away from them. ;-) I think what I am drawn to the most are honesty, sincerity and kindness.
